How an entrance to a home is designed is the beginning of a process that makes it truly hospitable.

This delight for all the senses is designed by Kate Walker Design. Beechwood, a 1980’s home on the Mornington Peninsula has been completely transformed. The brief was to create a modern farmhouse aesthetic and it is truly up there with the best of the best. Making an entrance when everything is aligned warms the heart and softens the worst of the day. Imagine coming home to this beauty everyday.

The detail and craft that has gone into the ‘board and batten’ wainscoting instantly add maturity to this space. How sweet is the little peek of the shiplap on the ceiling. The demure green paint colour gives the guest a real sense of excitement around what else is to come with the rest of the home.

The wrought iron candle chandelier is the perfect scale for the entrance and who doesn’t love design threesomes, with the console table and the wall sconces enjoying the same finish. The warmth of the timber flooring acts as the overarching anchor. Every element appears to be so effortlessly put together.
