A Bathroom with Broad Appeal

A modern bathroom renovation

This 1970’s bathroom had a typical layout for the era. One whose main room housed a bath and vanity, then within that same room a separate toilet and a separate shower room. The brief was to create an open-plan bathroom, which could also house a European laundry. The client was keen that this modern bathroom renovation would not date too quickly, but at the same time, wanted it to be sophisticated and warm.

The floor and wall tile is a grey-based, neutral tile that was chosen for its easy maintenance. Chrome fixtures harmonize with the luxe, more masculine mirror framed by wall sconces.

Three internal walls had to be removed. A lintel that spanned the room was installed. We dropped the back half of the ceiling, so we could house the venting that was required for the dryer and the shower fans. The wall of cupboards was designed to hold plenty of storage, a full-sized trough, a fitted washing machine, and a wall-hung dryer.

Floor heating, heated towel rail, in-wall toilet, and custom-designed vanity make this bathroom an inviting and practical space.

The results made for one very happy client.
